The Senator representing the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District in the Senate, Senator Aniekan Bassey, has commenced a 4-week intensive digital skills and career development training for youths across his Senatorial District.
The 2025 edition of the programme commenced on Tuesday in Uyo, under the auspices of his RHAB-YESS Foundation, in collaboration with ImpactHER, a globally recognized non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering African youth and women in business.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senator Bassey, represented by the Programme Director of RHAB-YESS Foundation, Mr. Darlington Udobong, stated that the initiative is designed to equip young people in the district with the critical tools and techniques needed to thrive in the digital economy and today’s competitive job market.
“This training programme is part of our yearly commitment to building the capacity of our youths and preparing them for the evolving global economy. Our aim is to help participants discover how to start, grow, and scale their businesses online, while also navigating job opportunities effectively,” Mr. Udobong said.
He explained that “the RHAB-YESS Digital Skills and Career Training programme began in 2024 with the successful training of 5,000 youths. The 2025 phase is projected to train over 1,000 more, with a curriculum that includes: Building a Personal Brand, Navigating the World of Work, Job Searching Online, Crafting a Compelling Resume, Using AI for Content Creation, Running Facebook Ads Effectively, and Implementing Google Workspace Across Your Business.”
He further hinted that participants will benefit from expert-led sessions, hands-on activities, and mentoring opportunities throughout the duration of the programme.
According to Mr. Udobong, the initiative and many other initiatives of Senator Bassey, tells of his continued investment in youth development and empowerment as a strategic pathway to economic inclusion and sustainable growth within the district and Akwa Ibom State at large.
