AKWA IBOM YOUTHS URGED TO EMBRACE DIGITAL SKILLS FOR A PROSPEROUS FUTURE

In their charge to action, the Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Hon. Iniobong Ekpenyong, and the Chief Executive Officer of Start Innovation Hub, Mr. Hanson Johnson, who were special guests at the ongoing 4-week digital skills and career development training, have urged youth of the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District to seize the golden opportunity presented to them by the programme.

Speaking during one of the sessions, Hon. Ekpenyong emphasized that the digital economy holds boundless prospects for self-reliance, innovation, and global relevance.

He encouraged participants to be fully committed to the programme, describing it as a life-transforming initiative that aligns perfectly with the realities of the 21st-century workplace.

Sharing the same sentiment, Mr. Hanson Johnson, a renowned technology incubation advocate, charged the youths to embrace the training with enthusiasm and discipline, noting that the knowledge being shared could serve as a launchpad for personal success, career development, and entrepreneurial excellence.

The annual programme is a brainchild of Senator Aniekan Bassey of the Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District. It is fully sponsored through his pet project, the RHAB-YESS Foundation, in partnership with ImpactHER, a globally respected non-governmental organization focused on empowering African youth and women entrepreneurs.

With a rich and relevant curriculum that includes Building a Personal Brand, Navigating the World of Work, Job Searching Online, Crafting a Compelling Resume, Using AI for Content Creation, Running Facebook Ads Effectively, and Implementing Google Workspace Across Your Business, the training is designed to produce digitally-empowered, job-ready, and business-savvy young leaders.

According to Mr. Darlington Udobong, the Programme Director of RHAB-YESS Foundation, the initiative is not just about learning new skills but about empowering participants to become problem solvers, innovators, and active contributors to the digital economy.

“This programme is Senator Aniekan Bassey’s long-term investment in the future of our youths. It is about equipping our young people with the tools they need to survive and succeed in today’s competitive and tech-driven world,” Mr. Udobong said.

He maintained that “As the training continues over the coming weeks, expectations remain high that more lives will be touched and transformed, one skill at a time.”
